There are 75 girls living at the Save Afghan Children orphanage in the Hazara neighborhood on the outer edge of Kabul, Afghanistan.  The director, Dr. Riza Elham, an Afghan medical doctor, has devoted his life to improving the lives of Afghan children.

The orphanage and neighborhood school provides a safe and nurturing home for these young Afghan girls, ages 4 to 17.  It provides them shelter, food, clothing and, most importantly, an education.

While stationed and working in Afghanistan a group of military personnel and civilians adopted the orphanage and created the Afghan Education Fund to support this tremendous resource for the girls who live there.

Today, girls at the orphanage and some 200 other students from the surrounding neighborhood attend the on-site school. The Afghan Education Fund supplies books and classroom materials for every student. In May 2010, 30   computers donated by Colorado citizens were installed so that students would have opportunities to develop basic technology skills. They lack Internet access but still feel a sense of excitement and empowerment to move beyond pencil and paper.

Money raised for the Fund also allows for protein to be added to the girls’ diets, and for their medical needs.  Please consider making a difference in the lives of these beautiful children!

The Afghan Education Fund advocates for the well-being and education of girls at an orphanage in a remote neighborhood area of Kabul Afghanistan.

A special thank you to the Tyler Parten Foundation for their generous gift to help support the orphanage.
